Plague Doctor
The doctor will see you now.
CA$49.00
The epidemics of Europe during the Middle Ages ushered in a period of dubious medical practices, with plague doctors often at the forefront. Threatening but benevolent, they held herbs such as mint, lavender and myrrh in their beaks believing it would protect them from the illnesses which they so desperately attempted to cure. Their remedies proved largely ineffective during widespread outbreaks. Which largely led them to becoming recognized as harbingers of death, earning their place as subjects of macabre jokes and cartoons. In today's modern world they have become something of an icon in the steampunk world. They are often regarded with great fondness for their efforts and of course, their accidental fashion statement.
This charm features one such plague doctor trying his best. He cares for his patients the only way he knows; through leech therapy, attempting to drain the illness from his victi-uhh patients' blood. He holds the vial dearly in his arms, and a yearning for a cure in his eyes.
Because all items are crafted by hand, please understand that no two charms will be identical.
